Choo Kyung-ho: “Welcome Jin Sung-joon to the party… Democrats, we’ll show our concerns for people’s lives.”

On the 20th, Choo Kyung-ho, the floor leader of the People Power Party, emphasized that he welcomes the continuity and swift discussion of policies with the reappointment of Jin Sung-joon as the head of the Policy Committee, addressed towards the Democratic Party of Korea.

During the floor leaders’ meeting held at the National Assembly on that day, Choo stated, “I hope that urgent bills related to people’s livelihoods and the economy, such as the law on preventing lease fraud, the Gohara law, the nurse law, and the law on bolstering the national grid, will be swiftly discussed for agreement at the plenary session on the 28th, and more bills related to people’s livelihoods will be processed.”

He also urged the Democratic Party to stop making offensive remarks that have emerged during the competitive process focusing only on the strong support base after their party convention, saying, “It’s time to show the responsible appearance of a political party that seriously contemplates and fiercely discusses people’s livelihoods.”

Regarding the spread of COVID-19, he requested the government to take comprehensive measures in epidemic control, as concerns persist about the shortage of medical personnel due to specialists leaving their posts and the lack of diagnostic kits and therapeutics hindering timely responses.

Furthermore, after the meeting, Choo responded to questions about establishing an “Interparty Consultative Body” that shows differences with the Democratic Party, saying, “We have been continuously discussing the need for an interparty body focused on people’s livelihoods, and we hope that the Democratic Party will take a proactive stance.”

Regarding the mention of Han Dong-hoon’s proposal for a third-party recommended special prosecutor at the upcoming interparty leader meeting on the 25th, he stated, “I understand that pragmatic discussions on what needs to be discussed in the interparty leader meeting are underway. It has not been specifically narrowed down or progressed to a certain stage yet.”
