Acting President Choi Sang-mok, who is also the deputy prime minister and minister of economy and finance, discussed ways to develop bilateral relations with Donald Tusk, the Polish prime minister, known as a significant figure in Poland’s defense sector, during a phone conversation.
On the 12th, considering the time difference with Poland, Acting President Choi spoke with Prime Minister Tusk and expressed gratitude for the trust Polish key figures have shown in Korean democracy. He promised, “Our government will do its utmost to ensure stable foreign relations and perform unwavering tasks in various sectors.”
Acting President Choi especially highlighted Poland’s prioritization of ‘security’ as the EU’s chair country this semester, emphasizing that Korea can be an optimal strategic partner in the defense and security fields. He stated, “Korean-Polish defense cooperation will remain solid under bipartisan support in the future.”
In response, Prime Minister Tusk expressed his agreement on the resilience of Korean democracy, stating, “Poland highly values its relationship with Korea and will continue defense cooperation and other forms of collaboration without disruption.”
Acting President Choi and Prime Minister Tusk positively evaluated the ongoing momentum of high-level exchanges, including President Duda’s official visit to Korea last year to mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. They agreed to continue strengthening their strategic partnership in various fields such as trade, investment, and advanced industries.
