“Cheon Haram-led” Reform New Party emergency supreme council decides to suspend Heo Eun-ah from her duties as party leader

On the 21st, the Reform Party held an emergency Supreme Council meeting at the National Assembly Members’ Office led by Floor Leader Cheon Haram, and decided to suspend the duties of Party Leader Heo Eun-ah. The meeting convened at 10 AM in the conference room of the National Assembly’s Members’ Office and was attended only by a few, including Lee Ju-young, chair of the policy committee, and supreme council members Lee Ki-in and Jeon Sung-kyun, who are associated with Lee Jun-seok. Heo Eun-ah and his close aide, Supreme Council Member Cho Dae-won, were absent.

At this emergency meeting, it was decided to initiate a party member recall system against Leader Heo and suspend her duties. Similarly, Supreme Council Member Cho Dae-won was also subjected to the recall system and duty suspension. Floor Leader Cheon explained that the reasons for Heo’s recall included violations of party rules during the appointment of executives, unjust instructions and control over the party’s secretariat staff, and using the party for personal promotion.

Cheon further addressed a decision led by Leader Heo the previous day, stating that the appointment of the party inspection committee is subject to Supreme Council resolution. Even if Heo’s claim about appointing Jung Seong-young as the policy committee chair is true, the required quorum of four was not met, rendering the decision invalid.
