Lee Jae-myung, the President, spoke at the 3rd Emergency Economic Inspection Meeting held at Cheong Wa Dae on the 1st. / Cheong Wa Dae
Lee Jae-myung, the President, on the 6th addressed the issue related to the end of the capital gains tax deferment on multiple home owners, stating, “How about allowing applications for land transaction permits made up until May 9?” and instructed a review of this measure.
At the 14th Cabinet Meeting, which also served as the 4th Emergency Economic Inspection Meeting held at Cheong Wa Dae in the morning, the President said, “Currently, people have been informed that they must complete the permit and contract by May 9, so it seems that there is a perception that ‘it will be impossible to sell after mid-April’ and ‘it will be impossible due to the time needed for the permit application and approval process.'”
Furthermore, the President noted, “In cases where there are tenants in properties owned by multiple home owners, non-homeowners are allowed to purchase the property until the lease period expires,” and addressed the controversy saying, “The revision of the regulations in this manner has resulted in many saying, ‘Why can’t we sell the home we have rented out?’ or ‘Why are multi-home owners given benefits but single-home owners aren’t?’ and ‘Why are we being penalized?'”
He also ordered, “Relevant ministries should objectively assess whether the greater effect will be on increasing demand or supply, and since the argument that a single-home owner wanting to sell a rented-out house has merit, I hope you will consider this in reviewing amendments to the enforcement ordinance.”
