On the 12th, the Democratic Party strongly criticized President Yoon Suk-yeol’s national address and called on the People Power Party to allow a free vote on the motion to impeach President Yoon on the 14th.
Kim Min-seok, a top official of the Democratic Party, stated at a press conference in the National Assembly, “Yoon Suk-yeol’s mental reality has been reconfirmed. The statement about planning a failed martial law, violating the constitution and laws, is an extreme delusion, an admission of illegal management, and a declaration of war to the public.”
Aiming at President Yoon’s address in the morning, Kim said, “He has already anticipated impeachment by pre-reading his arguments for the Constitutional Court and inciting future unrest.” He also accused Yoon of open orders for evidence destruction by those involved.
Kim asserted that “orderly impeachment is the action that the nation and the National Assembly must take against Yoon Suk-yeol.” He expressed his hope that the People Power Party would decide on a free vote on impeachment. He added, “The National Assembly will gather strength to approve Yoon Suk-yeol’s impeachment as demanded by the people” and urged the Constitutional Court to minimize the time for normalizing the state with a swift impeachment decision.
