Breakdown in negotiations for formation of a party… Ruling party, concluding ‘7 Standing Committees’ at tomorrow’s meeting.

‘Leaders of the main opposition People Power Party, Choo Kyung-ho, and the ruling Democratic Party, Park Chan-de, once again met under the chairmanship of Speaker Woosik Woo to negotiate the formation of a new assembly, but ultimately failed to produce any results.’

After a 20-minute meeting, Representative Choo met with reporters and stated that Speaker Woo did not propose any mediation plans, and Representative Park did not offer any compromises, concluding that the negotiations were meaningless with empty hands.

Choo emphasized that there are no plans to meet with Representative Park in the future and that the People Power Party will gather the unity of its members to make decisions on its own.

It is interpreted as meaning that a decision will be made at the lawmakers’ general meeting scheduled for tomorrow (24th) on whether they will take charge of the standing committee chairmanships at 7 locations or relinquish all standing committee chairmanships.

Representative Park also expressed regret that the discussions did not take place with a strong determination on the part of Representative Choo, and stated that there are currently no plans for further meetings.

Furthermore, it was added that there might be some kind of decision at the People Power Party’s general meeting tomorrow.
