The People Power Party’s floor leader, Choo Kyung-ho, stated that they will take all necessary legal measures to prevent the permanent special investigation into Kim Geun-hee, a controversy involving the ruling Democratic Party.

Choo, the floor leader, said at a parliamentary audit strategies meeting today (11th), “Despite strong objections from the ruling party, the Democratic Party is trying to push through a proposed permanent special investigation parliamentary rule amendment recommending a special investigation that suits their own taste.”

He criticized the Democratic Party’s proposed permanent special investigation parliamentary rule amendment, which goes against the principles of recommending a special investigation committee’s political neutrality and functional independence set forth for the permanent special investigation. He emphasized, “Setting aside higher laws through lower-level regulation is clearly unconstitutional.”

Choo added, “In order to block the enforcement of parliamentary rules amendments that are illegal and unconstitutional, we will actively seek all available legal measures, such as filing a power struggle adjudication and a provisional disposition application.”

Previously, on the 8th, the Democratic Party submitted a proposal to the National Assembly seeking a permanent special investigation into the allegations surrounding Kim, including stock manipulation allegations against Sambu Construction, allegations of coercing customs in drug investigations, and violations of the parliamentary testimony and expert opinion law.

In addition, they also introduced a parliamentary rule amendment that would prevent the ruling party from participating in the candidate recommendation committee for a permanent special investigation into illegal cases involving the President and their family.
