YG’s Babymonster makes their debut on the US ‘Billboard 200’ with their first full album.

YG Entertainment’s new girl group, BABYMONSTER, has made their debut on the US Billboard Main Chart with their first full album. According to the latest chart released by Billboard via social media on the 11th (local time), BABYMONSTER’s first studio album [DRIP] entered the ‘Billboard 200’ at number 149. This marks the first time the group has appeared on this chart, which is considered one of Billboard’s two main charts alongside the ‘Hot 100’.

The ‘Billboard 200’ is recognized as a significant indicator of both local fandom in the US and influence in the global music market. Considering that BABYMONSTER is a rookie group that has not been officially debuted for even eight months, this achievement is highly unusual.

BABYMONSTER’s global popularity surge was anticipated early on. Billboard had named them the most promising K-pop rookie of 2024, noting that they “made a magnificent splash this year with their full album full of captivating songs” and predicted successful outcomes for the group.

BABYMONSTER has been making a mark not only on Billboard but also on various global charts. The album topped the iTunes album charts in 14 regions and secured the second position on the iTunes Worldwide Album Chart. It also ranked first on the Line Music Album Top 100 Real-time Chart, Japan’s largest streaming site.

On Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform, they continue to see a steady climb. One of their double title tracks, ‘DRIP,’ entered Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Global chart on the 8th and continued its popularity streak, reaching its highest position at 109 on that day.
