Strong wind warning issued for the East Coast of Gyeongsang Province

It is expected to rain in most regions across the country on the last day of the Children’s Day holiday on the 6th.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted that there will be occasional rain in Seoul, Gangwon Province, northern Chungcheong Province, eastern Jeollabuk Province, inland northern Gyeongsang Province, and western inland areas of Gyeongsang Province until the morning. In addition, there will be places where light rain falls from the afternoon to night in southern Chungcheong Province and other southern regions. However, the amount of precipitation is expected to decrease significantly compared to the previous day.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, while a heavy rain warning was issued for Jeju Island and some areas of Jeollanam Province and Gyeongsangnam Province the previous day, more than 500mm of heavy rain fell in the mountainous areas of Jeju Island, and over 200mm of rain was recorded near Jirisan Mountain and the southern coast of Namhae, and in some areas like Wando and Suncheon in Jeollanam and Namhae in Gyeongsangnam, the highest rainfall values for May were observed. Additionally, heavy rain of 20 to 100mm fell in the rest of the country.

From midnight the previous day to the morning of the 6th, the cumulative precipitation in major locations was 56.7mm in Seoul, 75.0mm in Wonju Shinrim, 63.5mm in Nonsan, 275.0mm in Boseong, 226.0mm in Suncheon, 262.6mm in Namhae, 237.5mm in Hadong, 980.0mm on Mt. Samgakbong on Jeju Island, and 98.2mm in Seogwipo.

However, the expected rainfall on this day is 5-20mm in inland and mountainous areas of Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, Gangwon, 5-10mm in Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongsangnam, Chungbuk, 5mm in coastal areas of Gangwon, Sejong, northern Chungnam, less than 5mm in eastern Jeollabuk.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted that the country will mostly experience occasional rain tomorrow, showing tranquil conditions, and from the afternoon of the 8th, it will gradually become clearer starting from central regions.

Temperatures are expected to be higher than the annual average (9-14 degrees Celsius) in the morning, lower than the annual average (20-25 degrees Celsius) during the day for the time being. The maximum temperature across the country before noon today is expected to be between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius, and on the 7th, the lowest morning temperature will be between 11 and 14 degrees Celsius, with a high of 13 to 21 degrees Celsius.

A strong wind warning has been issued for the East Coast of Gyeongsang Province, indicating the need for caution. The Korea Meteorological Administration stated, “Until the afternoon of the 6th, the wind in this area will blow very strongly with gusts over 70 km/h (20 m/s), and tomorrow, there will be strong winds with gusts over 55 km/h (15 m/s) mainly on the southern coast of Jeollanam and Jeju Island, so please pay special attention to facility management and safety accidents.”
