A government-wide Hallyu Expo is being held in Canada to support the export of Korean wave-related companies.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that it will host the ‘2025 Canada K-Expo’ (K-EXPO CANADA 2025) in Toronto, Canada, for four days from tomorrow until the 12th, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
This expo, which is in its fourth year, is a comprehensive Hallyu event aimed at supporting joint exports of industries related to K-content, agricultural and marine products, cosmetics, and more, through the cooperation of relevant ministries.
Previously held in Vietnam, Thailand, and France, this year marks its first occurrence in the Americas region.
On the 9th and 10th, ‘K-Style’ exhibition, experience events, and performances combining ‘K-Content’ and ‘K-Food & Beauty’ will take place.
A cooking show featuring famed Canadian chef Raymond Kim and a cooking talk show hosted by actor Ryu Soo-young, a promoter of Korean cuisine, are planned.
Additionally, makeup demonstrations and product introduction events showcasing popular webtoons like ‘True Beauty’ and dramas like ‘My Perfect Secretary’ will be held.
Various promotional exhibition booths will be operated, including the high-end cultural product Mu:ds (MU:DS) pavilion by the National Museum Cultural Foundation, personalized skin and makeup diagnostics by the Korea Cosmetics Industry Institute, a K-Ramen museum by the Korea Tourism Organization, and a ‘Jeju Haenyeo Photo Zone’ promoting Korean tourism.
In addition, a K-Pop concert featuring BamBam, Cravity, and Fifty Fifty will take place on the 10th, and export consultations, presentations, and networking events for buyers from Canada and neighboring countries will be held on the 11th and 12th.
Kim Hyun-jun, Director of International Cultural Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, “The globally popular ‘K-Culture’ is becoming a new growth engine for our economy,” expressing hopes that this event will serve as an opportunity to expand the sustainable Korean wave in the Americas region and broaden export markets.
