The budget for the National Heritage Administration next year is up 5.4% compared to the previous year, amounting to 1.4 trillion won. 17.8 billion won is allocated for hosting the World Heritage Committee.

The Cultural Heritage Administration’s budget for next year has been set at 1.4624 trillion won, an increase of 75 billion won from this year. The largest allocation, 556 billion won, will be used for the maintenance and preservation of national heritage. The budget also includes 253.7 billion won for national heritage policies, 103.8 billion won for education, research, and exhibitions, 128.5 billion won for palace and tomb management, 98.7 billion won for cultural heritage, 88.6 billion won for natural and intangible heritage, and 78.2 billion won for world heritage.

Major new projects include hosting the 48th World Heritage Committee with 17.8 billion won, developing advanced preservation technology for national heritage with 4.4 billion won, maintaining heritage information signs with 5.8 billion won, establishing a national heritage product center in Gyeongbokgung Palace with 800 million won, and promoting Korean traditional landscaping overseas with 2 billion won.

The Cultural Heritage Administration aims to strengthen national heritage protection, realize cultural globalization by making national heritage the root of K-culture, and promote regional development through K-heritage tourism. A new national heritage product center in Gyeongbokgung Palace is planned, with a total project cost of 16.8 billion won. The design will be completed next year with 800 million won, and construction of the center will proceed with 16 billion won by 2027.
