Renault Korea’s midsize sports utility vehicle (SUV) ‘Grand Cleios’ unveiled last month has entered mass production. Renault Korea announced on the 16th that a production ceremony for the first Grand Cleios was held at the Busan plant on the 15th. Grand Cleios is a vehicle developed by Renault Korea itself, not by Renault headquarters in France, four years after XM3 in 2020.
The Grand Cleios, referred to as Project Code ‘Aurora 1’, succeeds the name of Renault’s first SUV, ‘Cleios’. Based on the platform used for Zhiji Auto in China and Volvo, the hybrid model is equipped with a 1.64kWh battery and a 1.5L turbo gasoline engine. It can drive up to 75% in electric mode at speeds below 40km/h in urban areas.
The Grand Cleios produced here will be exported to over 30 countries including Europe.
