The “2025 Reading Korea” event will be held from the 26th to the 28th at the Four Seasons Garden and the Octagonal Hall Exhibition Room in Seoul Children’s Grand Park, located in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. The theme of the event is “Reading is a journey, a book club is a companion.”
Throughout the event, ten “book mentors” who have participated in reading clubs will give lectures, starting with a lecture by poet Jeong Ho-seung on the 26th. Various reading records, including reading diaries and photos from reading club members, will be exhibited. Additionally, 100 participants will be randomly selected for a “One Month Book Club,” with 20 outstanding participants from October being given the opportunity to join a “Jongno Literature Tour” in November, led by producer Kim Min-sik.
Lim Seong-hwan, Director of the Media Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, stated, “This event is prepared for everyone, not only ‘book club’ members, to rediscover the value of books and enjoy reading together.” He emphasized future cooperation with libraries, bookstores, and publishers to promote a reading culture in daily life.
The event also features an outdoor library with around 1,000 recommended books, and interactive experiences such as completing webtoons or web novels and participating in games inspired by extreme situations in books. The opening ceremony on the 26th will include a “Forest Healing Book Concert,” where attendees can enjoy music from novels and films based on novels. On the 27th, a book talk with Jinju, author of “If You Want a Red Apple” and winner of the Bologna Ragazzi Award’s debut prize, will take place. On the 28th, voice actor Seo Hye-jung will read excerpts from “The Little Prince.”
