November 4th is ‘Korean Braille Day’… National Library for the Disabled to host Braille Quiz Event

[Seoul=Newsis] Reporter Jo Soo-won = The National Library for the Disabled announced on the 4th that it will hold an online Braille quiz event until the 17th to commemorate the 98th Braille Day (November 4th).

Braille is a specially designed writing system for visually impaired individuals that represents letters, numbers, or symbols through the arrangement of dots.

The quiz event will be conducted through the social media channels of the National Library for the Disabled. Anyone, whether disabled or not, can participate, and 114 participants will be selected through a draw to receive a mobile gift card worth 10,000 won.

Hwang Geumsuk, Director of the National Library for the Disabled, stated, “We hope that the Braille Day commemorative event will be an opportunity to spread awareness and interest in Braille not only among visually impaired individuals but also among non-disabled people.” She added, “We plan to continue various promotional activities to support the coexistence of disabled and non-disabled individuals as members of the same society.”
