New Jin’s music video director, “If Adoor retreats, persuasion, apology, if not posted…” [Full text]

The director Shin Woo-seok, who leads the video content studio “Dolphins Kidnapping Squad,” has demanded another apology from Uhdoe for the incident. On the 9th, Shin Woo-seok took to his social media and stated, “I have recordings and emails, so stop lying. Why are you working so hard to persuade me when I’m referred to as the disseminator of false information in Uhdoe’s statement?”

He further expressed, “We consulted with legal advisers, and as agreed, the ownership of the Ban Hee-soo channel belongs to the Dolphins Kidnapping Squad. However, the rights to the channel are not particularly important to us. As long as the Ban Hee-soo channel exists as an extension of our work, it is sufficient.”

Shin added, “We initially created the channel for fans without any compensation in mind. I no longer want to see fans worried about the channel being permanently deleted in the midst of disputes. We have considered transferring the channel to the fan club, but as no good solution has come to mind, we intend to transfer the ownership of the channel to Uhdoe. However, under the condition of absolute preservation. The channel must be operated according to the principle of absolute preservation, where nothing is deleted, modified, or added.”

The director concluded by stating, “If the apology is posted by today, the Dolphins Kidnapping Squad will transfer the Ban Hee-soo channel to Uhdoe. If an apology is not made, we will explore ways to transfer the channel to the fans and will sue Uhdoe for defamation.”

On the 2nd, Shin Woo-seok had previously revealed that due to Uhdoe’s policy changes, various videos related to the Dolphins Kidnapping Squad, including New Jin’s music video “Dito” directed by Shin, were no longer able to be publicized as requested by Uhdoe.

The dispute arose as the videos of the Ban Hee-soo channel, an extension of the “Dito” music video from New Jin, were privatized, leading to controversy. The Ban Hee-soo channel concept revolves around the character Ban Hee-soo, who captures the five members of New Jin on a camcorder, representing the fandom “Burnies” that supports New Jin. The channel received praise for inducing natural immersion rather than building an artificial storyline.

In addition to “Dito,” Shin Woo-seok has also directed New Jin’s music videos like “ETA.” He is known to have sided with former CEO Min Hee-jin amid conflicts with Hive and submitted a petition on behalf of Min to Hive.

With the appointment of Kim Joo-young as CEO of Uhdoe following the “separation of production and management,” tensions between Uhdoe and the Dolphins Kidnapping Squad escalated when Uhdoe raised issues with the channels and videos operated by the Dolphins Kidnapping Squad based on copyright claims.

In response to Shin Woo-seok’s statement, Uhdoe countered, stating that the director’s post contains false information. They clarified that they only requested the suspension of the director’s cut video uploaded on the Dolphins Kidnapping Squad’s social media channels without consent from the advertiser, refuting any claims of demanding the deletion or stoppage of uploads related to New Jin, including the Ban Hee-soo channel. Uhdoe also emphasized that there have been no changes in Uhdoe’s channel operation policy.
