Last year, the copyright trade balance recorded a surplus of 4.9 trillion won… for the 12th consecutive year.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that last year’s copyright trade balance increased by about 29% compared to the previous year, reaching 4.9 trillion won, marking a surplus for the 12th consecutive year since 2013.

According to statistics, the research and development and software copyright balance, primarily driven by games, recorded a surplus of approximately 4.141 trillion won.

The cultural and artistic copyrights, including music, video, and literature, recorded a surplus of approximately 758 billion won, the largest in history.

These results were confirmed in the “2024 Intellectual Property Special Classification Statistics” announced by the Bank of Korea on the 19th.
