Last month, the number of foreign tourists reached 1.6 million, a 30.1% increase compared to the same period last year.

On the 29th, the Korea Tourism Organization announced that 1.6 million foreign tourists visited Korea last month, a 30.1% increase compared to the same period last year.

Additionally, the cumulative number of visitors to Korea from January to October this year was 13.74 million, a 54.7% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Tourism Organization.

According to the statistics released by the Tourism Organization on this day, China was the country with the most visitors to Korea last month, with around 392,000 people visiting. This is a 57.2% increase from the same period last year, with China showing the highest growth rate among countries.

Japan followed with 323,000 visitors, the United States with 141,000, and Taiwan with 133,000.

In terms of monthly growth rate, Taiwan (37.8%), the Philippines (35.6%), and Russia (34.2%) followed China with high figures.

Meanwhile, the cumulative number of visitors to Korea from January to October this year was provisionally estimated to have recovered to 94% of the level in the same period of 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic.

During this period, when looking at the number of tourists to Korea by country, Chinese tourists were the most with 4 million, followed by Japan (2.63 million), Taiwan (1.24 million), and Americans (1.12 million).
