“The largest interior space in its class and a range of over 500 km on a single charge“, “The Korea Automobile Journalists Association (KAJA) announced on the 7th that it has selected Hyundai Motor’s ‘Ioniq 9’ as March’s Car of the Month.”
The Car of the Year Selection Committee under the journalists association evaluates new cars and facelift models released throughout the previous month to announce the Car of the Month. The evaluation consists of five categories: interior and exterior design and emotional quality, safety and convenience features, power performance, energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions, and marketability and purchase intention.
Among the new cars introduced last month, the Kia EV9 GT, Porsche Macan Electric, Honda 2025 Odyssey, and Hyundai Motor’s Ioniq 9 were nominated for March’s Car of the Month. After fierce competition, the Ioniq 9 was finally selected with a score of 36.7 out of 50.
The Ioniq 9 received a score of 8.0 out of 10 in the safety and convenience features category, 7.7 in the energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions category, and 7.3 in the interior and exterior design and emotional quality category.
Jung Ji-yeon, the chairman of the Car of the Year Selection Committee, stated, “The Ioniq 9, based on the E-GMP dedicated electric vehicle platform, is the flagship model of the Ioniq brand, boasting superior marketability with the largest interior space in its class and a range exceeding 500 km on a single charge. Equipped with the largest domestic electric vehicle battery capacity of 110.3 kWh, it highlights ‘value for money (price-performance ratio),’ expected to revitalize the stagnant market.”
