Singer IU celebrated her 16th debut anniversary today (18th) by donating 225 million won under the name of her fan club, as announced by her agency, EDAM Entertainment. The donations were made to ‘Korean Children Rare Disease Society’, ‘Elderly Milk Delivery Association’, ‘Hansarang Village’, and ‘Hansarang Nursery’, totaling four organizations.
The donation will be used for various purposes, such as supporting medical expenses, education, counseling, and medical supplies for children suffering from rare and incurable diseases, preventing loneliness and providing milk delivery services to elderly living alone, replacing aged elevators in facilities for severely disabled individuals, and improving convenience facilities and supporting rehabilitation therapy for infants in nurseries.
IU has been continuing this tradition of giving back through donations on her debut anniversary every year, as a way to express gratitude to her fans for their love and support. In addition to her anniversary donations, IU has consistently engaged in charity activities for the vulnerable, such as providing heating costs for those in need starting in January and donating 200 million won to organizations like ‘Korean National Council of Social Welfare’ in May, on her birthday.
According to her agency, IU’s ongoing charitable efforts have helped promote a culture of sharing, encouraged public participation, and had a positive impact on society.
Meanwhile, IU is gearing up for her ‘Encore World Tour Concert’ scheduled on the 21st and 22nd at Seoul World Cup Stadium, marking her first time performing at the venue as a female singer.
