The explosive popular drama ‘Sunjae Upgoing Script Book’ has soared to the top spot on the bestseller list with overwhelming sales figures following its release.
According to the bestseller rankings for the third week of July announced by Kyobo Bookstore on the 26th, the script book written by Lee Si-eun took the top spot, surpassing Yu Si-min’s ‘A Very Personal Thought on His Destiny’ and Toss’s ‘The Money Book’ with overwhelming sales figures.
Kyobo Bookstore stated that along with the script book, the release of the ‘Special Edition’ shook the hearts of fans, mentioning that while there have been instances of screenplay books for internationally awarded films reaching the top spot, this is the first time a drama script book has claimed the number one spot.
The majority of book buyers were overwhelmingly women at 94.2%, with the highest purchasing rate among women in their 30s at 34.4%.
Higashino Keigo, a bestselling Japanese mystery novel author, entered the rankings at sixth place with his 101st new novel ‘You Killed Someone as Soon as it Was Released’, taking the top spot in the novel category as well. Known as a master of mystery novels, Higashino has published over 100 works and continues to be loved by readers in Korea.
The start of the vacation season also led to noticeable movements in the children’s book category. ‘Ordinary Siblings Lee Mugi’ climbed four steps to reach the 10th spot overall, while the steady-selling children’s educational comic series ‘Magic Thousand Character Classic 63’ entered the 11th spot.
