Heavy rain in central regions… torrential downpours in the metropolitan area [Tomorrow’s weather]

Heavy rain is expected to fall primarily in the central regions of Korea on the 13th and 14th. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 12th, rain will fall nationwide on Wednesday, the 13th. The capital region and the five West Sea islands will see heavy rainfall of 50-120mm over two days starting on the 13th, with up to 150mm or more possible in Incheon, the five West Sea islands, and northern Gyeonggi.

Inland and mountainous areas in Gangwon are expected to receive 30-100mm of rain (up to 120mm or more in central and northern inland areas), while the east coast will see 10-40mm in northern parts and 5-20mm in central and southern parts. Northern parts of Chungnam and central and northern parts of Chungbuk can expect 30-80mm (up to 100mm or more in northern Chungnam), while Daejeon, Sejong, southern parts of Chungnam, and southern parts of Chungbuk will see 20-60mm. Gwangju and Jeonnam will receive 20-80mm (up to 100mm or more along the Jeonnam coast), with Jeju mountain areas receiving 20-60mm. Jeonbuk, Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam, Daegu, and Gyeongbuk can expect 10-60mm (up to 80mm or more along the southern Gyeongnam coast), and Jeju excluding mountain areas will see 5-20mm. Ulleungdo and Dokdo are expected to receive 5-10mm.

There might also be periods of heavy downpours. In the capital region, Incheon, northern Gyeonggi, and the five West Sea islands will see 30-50mm per hour from the morning of the 13th to early morning of the 14th, with around 30mm per hour on the morning of the 14th. Seoul and southern Gyeonggi can expect 30-50mm per hour from the night of the 13th to early morning of the 14th, with around 30mm per hour on the morning and afternoon of the 13th and the morning of the 14th.

Additionally, inland and mountainous areas in Gangwon will experience around 30mm per hour from the afternoon of the 13th to the morning of the 14th. Northern coastal areas of Chungnam from the early hours to morning on the 13th and northern parts of Chungnam early on the 14th can expect similar conditions. The west coast and central inland areas will also experience strong gusts with wind speeds of up to 55 km/h (15 m/s) along with the rain.

Temperatures will remain around average, with morning lows between 22-26 degrees Celsius and afternoon highs between 27-33 degrees on the 13th.
