Genesis Opens Exhibition in Partnership with UK’s Tate Modern, Highlighting Works by Do Ho Suh

The “Walk the House” exhibition, inspired by the mobility of Hanok, offers reflections on residence and movement. Genesis collaborates with prestigious art museums worldwide, including an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the U.S.

(Seoul=News1) Reporter Kim Seong-sik – Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 30th that “The Genesis Exhibition: Do Ho Suh: Walk the House,” a partnership exhibition between its brand Genesis and the Tate Modern in London, will be held from May 1 to October 19.

“Walk the House” is Do Ho Suh’s large-scale solo exhibition debuting in London, deeply exploring the artist’s world, which has been shaped over the past 30 years against the backdrops of Seoul, New York, and London.

The exhibition presents Suh’s exploration of the relationships between architecture, space, the body, and memory through large installations, sculptures, videos, and drawings, conveying his extensive reflections on themes such as residence and movement to the audience.

The exhibition title “Walk the House” is inspired by the concept of the mobility of Hanok, which can be dismantled and reassembled in different locations, reflecting the artist’s long-standing interest in the concept of “house” as a space that shapes individual and collective identity.

A representative from Genesis stated, “Do Ho Suh meticulously examines the changes and expansions in the perception of time and space within personal and collective histories based on an intimate exploration of memory and movement,” expressing hope that the exhibition offers audiences an opportunity to rediscover life’s true values.

Genesis has been engaged in “Genesis Art Initiative” activities, beginning with the establishment of a mid- to long-term partnership with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, USA, in July last year, to provide timeless inspiration and promote the visions of global creators.

Under the name “The Genesis Facade Commission,” the Metropolitan Museum partnership is a program exhibiting new sculptures and installations by world-renowned artists on the museum’s front facade. The first exhibition “The Genesis Facade Commission: Lee Bul, Long Tail Halo” composed of four large sculptural works questioning “wholeness,” is on view until June 10.

In September, the second exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum will feature Jeffrey Gibson, who participated in the U.S. Pavilion at the 2024 Venice Biennale. Genesis plans to continue its distinctive cultural and artistic sponsorship activities, including art partnerships with leading global art institutions.
