Today, the entire country will mostly have clear skies, but the early summer heat will continue. Especially in the eastern regions, temperatures are expected to reach around 30 degrees, making it feel like midsummer.
Let’s take a closer look at the weather. I’m YTN’s caster, Shin Mi-rim!

The early summer heat is prevailing even before the start of June?
[Caster]
Yes, it’s important to prepare for the heat today as well. The daytime high temperature in Seoul will be 26 degrees, still above the average for this time of year. In Daegu, it will even reach a scorching 32 degrees. However, with temperatures rising during the day, the temperature difference can be significant at around 10 degrees, so please be mindful of your clothing choices.
Taking a closer look at the regional temperatures, Seoul is currently at 16.2 degrees, and Gwangju at 18.9 degrees. As the hot weather continues into the afternoon, many places in the eastern region will see temperatures surpassing 30 degrees.
Today, Seoul’s daytime high will be 26 degrees, Daejeon 30 degrees, and Gangneung will soar to 32 degrees.

The sky looks clear today, but are there areas with thick fog right now?
[Caster]
Yes, in the Chungcheong and Honam coastal regions, visibility is less than 200 meters due to thick fog and there may be places experiencing drizzle. Please drive safely during your commute. Also, be cautious of UV rays and ozone levels during midday. Today, the UV index nationwide will be at a ‘very high’ level, and ozone levels will be high as well.
Tomorrow, which is Friday, there will be passing showers in western and southern inland areas amid the early summer heat. Over the weekend, the skies will become cloudy and temperatures will stabilize. Rain is expected in various parts including Seoul on the holidays ahead.
Dry weather warnings have been issued for Jeju’s mountainous areas for a week already. Please be diligent in managing fire risks to prevent wildfires and large-scale fires.
