On the 12th, Ford Sales Service Korea held a domestic launch event for the 6th generation facelift model of the large Ford SUV, ‘The New Explorer,’ at Sevitseom, Seoul.

First launched in North America in 1990, the Explorer is Ford’s first 4-door SUV and an iconic model that initiated the large SUV boom. In the U.S., it has been the model with the highest cumulative sales over the past 35 years. In Korea, the 2nd generation model was introduced soon after Ford Korea was established in 1996, and the 6th generation model was launched in 2019.

The newly launched New Ford Explorer is a facelifted reinterpretation of the 6th generation. It features a bolder exterior styling, an interior layout that enhances spatial utility, and the latest digital systems and features. The New Ford Explorer is available in two trims: the existing ‘Platinum’ and the newly introduced ‘ST-Line.’ Both are equipped with a 2.3L EcoBoost I4 engine.

The New Explorer offers a visually stable front view with an expanded skid plate and repositioned air curtains, lowering the overall weight balance of the front end. The sleek design of the LED headlights is integrated with the panel at the top of the front grille, achieving visual harmony. Each trim’s front grille exhibits unique patterns to express distinct individuality.

The ST-Line trim provides easy ingress and egress for passengers with 2nd row captain’s seats, while the Platinum trim offers a 2nd row bench seat that accommodates up to 7 passengers. The 3rd-row seat folding function facilitates seat control and efficient space utilization.

The price of The New Ford Explorer is 62.9 million KRW for the ST-Line and 69 million KRW for the Platinum.

“I hope that more customers can enjoy new and varied everyday adventures with The New Ford Explorer,” said No Sun-Hee, Executive Director of Marketing and Communication at Ford Korea. For over 25 years, the Explorer has been synonymous with large imported SUVs in the Korean market and has contributed to the growth of the domestic large SUV market by being loved by many customers.
