“‘Chusa Kim Jeong-hui’ and 400 Other Korean Artists Registered in Getty Vocabulary”

‘Information about Korean artists, including Chusa Kim Jeong-hui, will be included in an American art glossary.’

The National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage announced today (27th) that it has provided information on 400 Korean artists to the Getty Vocabularies, operated by the Getty Research Institute in the United States.

As a result, by searching for major artists in the Getty Vocabularies, you can find information such as their name, life, nationality, and gender in English, Korean, and Chinese characters.

This update includes new information on Kang Hee-maeng, a calligraphy and painting artist from the early Joseon Dynasty, along with Chusa Kim Jeong-hui.

The institute explained that following this provision, they plan to additionally provide information on 700 more artists, including Jang Seung-eop and Jeon Gi, next month.

Since last year, the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage has been building information on Korean art heritage and artists in accordance with international standards, which has been reflected in the artist name information database of the Getty Vocabularies.

The Getty Vocabularies is an art history terminology online platform rated for its systematic management of information in accordance with international standards, allowing major museums, art galleries, and researchers in the field of art to search for art history terms.
