Heavy rain poured down in the central region overnight.
In Cheorwon, Gangwon Province, over 100mm of rainfall was recorded as 74mm of rain fell per hour.
In Seoul, 30mm of rain poured down within an hour.
Hwaseong and Pyeongchang in Gangwon Province were once under heavy rain warnings, and flood advisories were issued in various areas of Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and Chungcheong provinces.
Heavy rain will continue in the central region until tomorrow morning.
Up to 80mm of rain is expected in the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon, and around 50mm in Chungcheong.
Caution is needed for overnight heavy rain.
In the southern regions where it’s not raining, a strong heatwave is prevailing.
Heatwave warnings are in effect nationwide except for parts of the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon. Gwangju, Daegu, and Jeju are under heatwave alerts.
Temperature will exceed 33 degrees in various parts of the southern regions, and the humidity will make the heat even more intense.
To prevent heat-related illnesses, it is important to drink plenty of water and avoid intense outdoor activities.
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted that scattered showers will occur frequently nationwide after the rain stops tomorrow.
