Han Kang’s works are dominating the bookstore bestseller lists following her Nobel Prize in Literature win. According to the bestseller rankings for the first week of November announced by Kyobo Bookstore on November 8, Han Kang’s “The Boy is Coming” has reclaimed the number one spot, overtaking “The Vegetarian.” Her three works, “The Boy is Coming,” “The Vegetarian,” and “Human Acts,” are competing for the top position.
Notably, eight of Han Kang’s works made it into the top 10, including “White,” “Put Evening in the Drawer,” “The Time of Greek,” “The Essential,” and “Love in Yeosu.” They are showing strong performance against other contenders like “Trend Korea 2025” by Kim Nan-do in 7th place, and Yuval Noah Harari’s “Nexus” in 9th place.
In the wake of Han Kang’s Nobel Prize win, interest in literature has grown, pushing Yang Gui-ja’s “Contradiction” up three places to 11th and Kim Joo-hye’s “Beasts of A Small Land,” a Tolstoy Literary Award winner, up to 13th. Additionally, Jeong Dae-gun’s second novel “Torrent,” set in the city of Jinpyeong, famous for its reservoir and valley, has gained traction on social media and risen five places to 19th since the previous week.
Outside the top 10, books forecasting economic trends and market outlooks are also receiving attention.
