‘Beginning of autumn’, heat waves and tropical nights continue… scattered surprise showers [Weather]

On the way to work now, there are many areas covered with thick fog. Inland areas of Gangwon, mountainous regions, and inland areas of Honam have visibility dropping to around 200m. Please be cautious about transportation safety.

Today, which marks the beginning of autumn in the seasonal division, known as the ‘Ipchu’, the scorching heat will continue. Nationwide heat wave alerts are in effect, with Seoul reaching 33 degrees and Gyeongju climbing up to 36 degrees. Due to high humidity, many places will have a heat index exceeding 35 degrees.

Amidst the sweltering heat, sudden showers are expected in various locations. The estimated rainfall from the showers may reach up to 60mm, particularly in the Gyeongsangbuk-do region where very heavy showers of 30-50mm per hour are expected.

Looking at the current temperature, Seoul is at 27.4 degrees, continuing the tropical night trend for today.

Midday temperatures will be similar to yesterday, with Seoul at 33 degrees, Gangneung at 34 degrees, and Daegu reaching up to 36 degrees.

Tomorrow, occasional rains are forecasted for the central regions, and the intense heat with a heat index around 35 degrees will persist for the time being.

That’s the weather update.
