60% of the population “enjoys gaming”… Over 90% of gamers use mobile games.

It was found that 6 out of 10 people in the country enjoy games and over 90% of game users play mobile games. According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency, in the “2024 Game User Survey” conducted with 10,000 people, 59.9% (5,988 people) responded that they have played games in the past year.

This is a 3 percentage point decrease compared to last year (62.9%).

The game usage rate, which was 70.5% in 2020, 71.3% in 2021, and 74.4% in 2022, has decreased for two consecutive years.

In a separate survey conducted with 8,000 game users, 91.7% of respondents said they play mobile games. This figure has increased by 7.1 percentage points from last year.

Console game usage also increased by 2.6 percentage points to 26.7% compared to last year.

On the other hand, PC game usage decreased by 7.2 percentage points to 53.8%.

The average daily game usage time increased by 12 minutes each, to 171 minutes on weekdays and 253 minutes on weekends compared to last year.

The survey showed that the average daily game usage time for PC and mobile games increased, while it decreased for console games.

This survey was conducted from June 25 to October 8 to check the national game usage situation.

The national game usage rate survey was conducted on 10,000 general people, and the detailed game usage survey was conducted on 8,000 game users.

The margin of error is ±1.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
