The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with the Korea Copyright Commission and the Korea Copyright Protection Agency, announced a “Copyright Protection Campaign” to be held from April 17 to 30 in conjunction with “World Book and Copyright Day” on April 23. The ministry explained, “Through this campaign, we plan to reflect on the precious value of books and copyrights and expand the culture of respecting creators’ rights in daily life.”
During the campaign period, a variety of online and offline events will be held to enhance public interest and participation in respecting and protecting copyright. These events include talk concerts by famous authors, competitions to raise copyright awareness, and cultural events at the National Copyright Museum (Jinju, Gyeongnam). On the 23rd, a ceremony will be held to officially launch the campaign, during which copyright ambassadors will be appointed.
Cultural events will be held where creators and citizens can meet directly to communicate and share the value of copyright. On the 23rd, author Isul Ah will give a lecture on “Daily Isul Ah and Copyright” at the Seoul Library, and author Hansani will speak on “The Future of Books in the Digital Age and Copyright Protection” at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul. On the 26th, the National Copyright Museum will host storytelling and a “Book Talk Concert” for family visitors.
A copyright awareness competition will take place from April 23 to June 15. Anyone can participate by submitting messages that protect and respect copyrights in the form of poetry or prose on the “2025 Copyright Competition” website and Kakao Brunch Story.
In collaboration with the Korea Bookstore Association, 530 bookstores nationwide will distribute 100,000 paper bags from April 17 to 30, carrying the message “Love for Books, Respect for Copyright.” The National Copyright Museum will operate a variety of interactive events and exhibitions under the theme “Secret Code A (Amazing)-B (Book)-C (Copyright)-D (Day).” Kyobo Bookstore and Millie’s Library are also participating in spreading messages about copyright protection.
Online, there will be ongoing events such as “Books I Enjoyed and One-Line Reviews,” “Public Participation Event for Copyright Protection,” “Introduce Your Life Book,” and “One Word on Copyright.”
