Yunho Yunho confirmed to star in the 40 million ‘Crime City’ Japanese remake.

Yunho Yunho of TVXQ, who has captivated Japan, is making a foray onto Japanese screens as actor Jung Yunho.

According to multiple industry insiders, Jung Yunho has confirmed his appearance in the Japanese remake of the film “The Outlaws,” directed by Uchida Eiji, which is currently in the preparation stages of production. Jung Yunho will join as a major character and collaborate with Japanese actors.

This Japanese version of “The Outlaws” marks Jung Yunho’s first appearance in a Japanese film. In Korea, his only significant cinematic appearance was a special role in “Ode to My Father” (2014), making this action genre film his first serious screen challenge, raising curiosity about his performance.

The interest grows because Yunho’s popularity, which electrifies the Tokyo Dome as part of TVXQ, may translate into box office success. Following his involvement in the Disney+ series “Fine,” set to release later this year, Yunho plans to actively expand his career from singer to actor, including this Japanese project.

The Japanese “The Outlaws” reimagines the 2017 film, which became legendary with over 40 million cumulative viewers in its series. A Japanese production company acquired the remake rights a few years ago, paused the project, and has recently resumed it due to improved investment conditions.

The “The Outlaws” series, led by Ma Dong-seok, was well-received not just in Korea but also in Japan, becoming a beloved franchise. The third film featured notable roles for Japanese actors like Aoki Munetaka and Kunimura Jun.

Reportedly, the Japanese remake is also seeking appearances from other Korean actors, heightening interest in the roles Korean actors will play in the film.

Directed by the renowned Uchida Eiji, known for works such as “Love for Sale” (2017), “Detective Mariko of Kabukicho” (2022), and the Netflix series “The Naked Director,” the film will feature famous Japanese actors Mizukami Koshi, Fukushi Sota, and Aoyagi Sho.

The main casting has been completed, and the Japanese version of “The Outlaws” is scheduled to begin filming in June.
