[My Daily = Reporter Kim Ji-woo] YouTuber Kwak Hyul-su (real name Jeong Hyun-su, 22), who has 200,000 subscribers, stated that she was sexually assaulted last year.

On the 2nd, Kwak Hyul-su posted a video titled ‘It took a long time to bring this up’ on her YouTube channel, and stated, “I have made an appointment to see a psychiatrist tomorrow. I want to tell you about the things that have happened to me since last year.”

She said, “I have been doing YouTube while hiding this incident for almost a year and a half, and it was very difficult,” adding, “I’m a lifestyle YouTuber and sharing my daily life is my job, but I spent 330 out of 365 days crying.”

According to Kwak Hyul-su, the incident occurred in the early morning of May last year. After drinking, she took a taxi home, and the taxi driver parked at an apartment complex, moved to the back seat, and raped her.

She further stated, “I’m not a criminal or perpetrator, so I don’t know why I have to hide it,” and explained, “I kept it hidden and continued my YouTube activities because I thought people would look at me pitifully if I spoke up about the rape.”

Kwak Hyul-su mentioned that she has been receiving gynecological treatment for more than a year after the incident. She also experienced side effects from excessive antibiotic use, hair loss, and symptoms of panic. “Yesterday, I had a severe panic attack with seizures, hyperventilation, anxiety, and lethargy,” she explained, citing reasons for recently scheduling a psychiatric consultation.

She also talked about the ongoing legal proceedings. She said, “The lawsuit system in our country is structured such that victims like me have to suffer for years,” adding, “I’ve been dealing with it for almost a year and a half, but it’s still not over. An investigator asked me, ‘Why didn’t you report it when you were raped?’ which made me feel victimized again.”
