Yoo Ah In, acquitted of the same-sex assault charge…Decision not to indict for attempted rape charge

[Dispatch=Byung-Jun Lee] Actor Yoo Ah-in (real name Um Hong-sik, 37) has been cleared of the same-sex sexual assault allegations.

Seoul Yongsan Police Department decided not to prosecute Yoo Ah-in last week in relation to the complaint against him. They determined that there was insufficient evidence to acknowledge the crime allegations.

Yoo Ah-in was accused of pseudo-rape on July 15th. Plaintiff A reported a day before on the 14th, claiming to have been sexually assaulted by Yoo Ah-in.

The police summoned Yoo Ah-in on the 28th of last month. Based on testimonies of the plaintiff and witnesses, as well as CCTV footage, they investigated the facts surrounding the allegations.

They also conducted a drug test. They performed a preliminary drug test and requested a detailed analysis from the National Forensic Service. The results of the drug test all came back negative.

Yoo Ah-in’s legal representative, Attorney Bang Jeong-hyun, explained, “The police made this decision based on a comprehensive review of the plaintiff’s testimony, witness statements, and CCTV footage.”

Attorney Bang added, “As initially stated, the allegations made by the plaintiff are not true,” and requested, “Please refrain from making any further speculations related to the case.”

Meanwhile, Yoo Ah-in was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 2 million won for habitual drug use. He was also detained on the 3rd of last month.
