He stated that Kim Sae-ron had asked her agency to pay the hospital fees in advance, with an agreement to repay it as a loan.

Lee Jin-ho also mentioned the controversy surrounding the hospital fees. Some questioned whether the fees were excessively charged and whether the agency unjustly pocketed the difference. In response, Lee Jin-ho clarified, saying, “Generally, the fee for emergency sutures ranges from 400,000 to 1 million won, but Kim Sae-ron’s case was different.” He revealed a phone call with a friend of Kim Sae-ron’s, where it was noted that the late actress could not avail of insurance coverage.
,
In the recording, Kim Sae-ron is heard telling a friend, “The ligaments and tendons in my arm are severed, and surgery is necessary. However, this is not covered by insurance, so I need 5 million won.”
,
According to the National Health Insurance Service, treatments related to self-harm do not receive insurance benefits, as specified in Article 53 of the National Health Insurance Act.
,
Lee Jin-ho added, “When someone attempts an extreme decision, they usually contact family first. It seems the late actress tried not to burden her family financially,” and noted, “It appears that she led a very lonely and hard life.”
