[SC Review] Behind the scenes of ‘Squid Game 2’ revealed a story about 50 billion won-worth of prop money.
On the December 18th episode of ‘You Quiz on the Block’ (directed by Lee Ki-yeon, writer Lee Jong-hyuk, and Lee Eun-joo), the ‘Don’t Forget’ segment featured Cho Dae-in, a researcher from the Bank of Korea responsible for counterfeit currency management, game theory expert Professor Han Soon-gu, and actor Hyun Bin.
Cho Dae-in shared insights on counterfeit currency issues, mentioning the counterfeit money crimes prevalent among teenagers, which left a shocking impact. It was revealed that the most frequently counterfeited bill is the 5,000 won note, and an infamous case known as the 77246 incident related to counterfeit currency used in actual crimes was highlighted.
Cho also explained how to identify counterfeit money by observing, tilting, and touching, which drew significant interest. Regarding prop money used in filming, Cho disclosed that Korean Bank approval is necessary for usage. Specifically, the behind-the-scenes of the 50 billion won prop money used in ‘Squid Game 2’ was unveiled.
Professor Han Soon-gu (Yonsei University) captivated the audience with intriguing stories about game theory. He stated, “Life is strategy,” highlighting how game theory applies to various scenarios from dating to salary negotiations. He elaborated on potential hold-up issues if all demands in a relationship are met, sharing strategic anecdotes from his own marriage, capturing the attention of Yoo Jae-suk and Jo Se-ho. Additionally, he discussed the “dol+I strategy” applicable to work life, advising to consistently show that “I am not an easy person” to gain an advantage in any negotiation.
