Singer Heein congratulates Han River Nobel Prize winner, saying “After reading the author’s novel, I came up with a pen name.”

Singer Hynn congratulates writer Han Kang on winning the Nobel Prize in Literature for the first time as a Korean. In a post on her Instagram on the night of the 10th, Hynn expressed her delight at hearing the news of the writer’s Nobel Prize in Literature and congratulated Han Kang on her achievement with heartfelt sincerity. She mentioned that she was especially proud that Han Kang’s unique perspective and insight had moved people around the world through Korean literature.

Hynn revealed that she was deeply impressed by Han Kang’s novel “White” before her debut, and a particular line from the book, “Even if I get dirty, I will only pass on what is white,” resonated with her. This led her to adopt the stage name “Hynn.” She expressed her determination to infuse her music with a sincere and pure heart, promising to continue creating music that reflects her genuine emotions despite any challenges or wounds she may face.

Furthermore, Hynn stated that she has been influenced by Han Kang’s works such as “The Vegetarian” and “Human Acts,” recognizing the author’s ability to deeply understand the times, the world, and human emotions.

Despite considering herself a small singer whose stage name was inspired by the author’s work, Hynn stated that she will continue to learn from Han Kang’s pure perspective and sincerity towards literature.

Han Kang, a graduate of Pungmoon High School and Yonsei University’s Korean Literature Department, started her literary career in 1993 with the publication of a poem in the winter issue of “Literature and Society.” Her short story “The Red Anchor” won the Seoul Newspaper New Writer’s Award the following year, marking the beginning of her significant literary contributions. Han Kang has gained acclaim both domestically and internationally for her exploration of the essence of human existence and profound expressive abilities.

The Nobel Prize ceremony is scheduled to take place in Stockholm on December 10th, the anniversary of the death of Alfred Nobel, the founder of the Nobel Prize and a scientist.
