An interview titled ‘Shinji’s Heartfelt Confession About Marriage’ was uploaded on SBS’s YouTube channel on the 28th. In it, Shinji appeared as a special MC on ‘My Ugly Duckling,’ where she candidly spoke about her fiancé, Moonwon.
Seo Jang-hoon mentioned, “Shinji is getting married soon. But she has experienced a lot of distress due to various controversies surrounding her fiancé at the time of the marriage announcement.” Shinji acknowledged this situation, saying, “Many stories about my fiancé surfaced, and it was quite overwhelming for me.”
Addressing common misconceptions, she clarified, “Many believe we have been dating for a short time, but it has actually been over two years, entering our third year.” She continued, “I had asked Moonwon questions early on, telling him that if there were ever rumors of our relationship, it would become a big issue, and he needed to be honest if there was anything wrong. But as far as I know, there hasn’t been anything.”
Shinji expressed frustration over untrue rumors continually arising, noting that while she is used to such occurrences after 28 years in the entertainment industry, it was a new and negative experience for Moonwon, who struggled despite his generally strong mindset. Seo Jang-hoon then asked about the decisive reason for her decision to marry, to which Shinji emphasized Moonwon’s kindness, “He treats both me and my parents very well. Even if I’m not home, he shares meals with my family and even prepares meals for them when I’m away for events.”
Shinji is set to marry singer Moonwon, who is seven years younger than her, next year. However, when the fact that Moonwon is divorced and has a daughter was disclosed, it led to suspicions about his personal life and the reasons for his divorce, sparking negative public opinion. Responding to this, Shinji stated, “I fully understand your concerns and suggestions, and I will be more cautious and considerate in the future.”
