[Herald Economy=Reporter Jang Yeon-joo] It has been revealed that the late Goo Hara of the group KARA posted a message saying “Scary” on her social media secret account before her death. It was also confirmed that Goo Hara had called her close friend, Ms. Hwang, to request a meeting.

SBS’s ‘I Want to Know That’, broadcast on the 22nd, traced the mysteries surrounding the Goo Hara safe theft incident.

After Goo Hara’s death, someone reportedly trespassed into Goo Hara’s residence in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, and stole a personal safe containing the late’s mobile phone.

Goo Hara abruptly took her own life on November 24, 2019. Goo Hara, who was actively promoting in Japan after releasing a new album, briefly returned to Korea and left a short greeting “Good night” on her official social media account on November 23, 2019.

However, it was revealed that a few hours later on the 24th, she posted a message saying “Scary..” on a secret account known only to close friends.

Her friends left comments such as “Unnie, I’m here. Strong and reliable unnie sister,” “Scary, why are you being foolish. Always on your side. Think of us.” to comfort her, but shortly after, news of Goo Hara’s death spread.

Only a simple memo was found at the scene of her death, and no will was discovered.

However, Goo Hara’s older brother, Mr. Goo, mentioned that a long-time housekeeper had “prepared a will for precaution” before his sister’s death.

It was also reported that Goo Hara had made a phone call to her close friend, Ms. Hwang, the day before her death. Hwang, a key figure in the ‘Burning Sun’ scandal, expressed mixed feelings when asked for an interview by the production team.

Hwang said, “She actually called me that day,” and revealed, “In the evening, she said ‘Let’s have a meal.’ I was having a beer and since she was just an ordinary friend, I thought it might be awkward if she came, so I said, ‘Hara, then let’s meet on my birthday’ and hung up. The next morning, I heard the news of her death.”

He felt responsible for the deceased.

Hwang mentioned, “Even the detained individuals felt a lot of guilt and expressed a lot of mourning when Hara made that choice,” and explained, “Even though I am her friend, if someone had stolen the safe from Hara’s house, I would have reported it.”

Goo Hara played a significant role in sharing information about the ‘Burning Sun’ scandal with journalists during the time of the incident.

The ‘Burning Sun’ scandal refers to crimes such as sexual assault and illegal filming that occurred at the Burning Sun nightclub in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

Therefore, there are suspicions raised regarding the relation of the Goo Hara safe theft incident to the Burning Sun scandal. The thief did not touch expensive items but only stole a 31kg safe.

On the same day, ‘I Want to Know That’ revealed a montaged image of the man captured on CCTV at the time of the safe theft.

Through expert consultation, it is estimated that the perpetrator at the time of the crime had an earring on his left ear, was in his late twenties to early thirties, wearing glasses for myopia correction. He had a slim face and a slightly upturned nose. He was about 170cm tall with a robust physique.

Former detective Jung Chang-gil, known as the ‘montage specialist investigator,’ described the suspect as having a long chin with slightly protruding cheekbones.
