The new SBS Friday-Saturday drama “Taxi Driver 3” (written by Oh Sang-ho, directed by Kang Bo-seung) is based on a webtoon of the same name. It is a private revenge drama where the secretive taxi company Rainbow Transport and taxi driver Kim Do-gi complete revenge on behalf of unjust victims. With news of confirmed appearances by major cast members such as Lee Je-hoon, Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin, and Bae Yoo-ram, the return of a true hero of justice is anticipated.
The “Taxi Driver” series is based on the unique setting of a taxi driver avenging unjust victims, becoming an irreplaceable exhilarating hero genre through thrilling action and vengeful plots representing the pain of social minorities. As the episodes progressed, the characters and relationships within Rainbow Transport like Kim Do-gi (played by Lee Je-hoon), CEO Jang (played by Kim Eui-sung), Go Eun (played by Pyo Ye-jin), Manager Choi (played by Jang Hyuk-jin), and Manager Park (played by Bae Yoo-ram) provided varied entertainment. Thanks to this, “Taxi Driver” has secured its place as a mega-hit IP and a successful example of a Korean-style seasonal drama, recording the 5th highest viewership rating (21%) among all domestic terrestrial and cable dramas aired since 2023. Additionally, it became a hit among global audiences, topping the most-watched list in 16 countries worldwide within ten days of its release on Viu, Asia’s largest OTT platform. It also won the Best Drama Series award at the 28th Asian Television Awards (ATA), Asia’s most prestigious media awards, last year, showcasing its unrivaled presence as a representative “K-caper” hit.
In this context, on the 13th (Monday), “Taxi Driver 3” released a teaser poster signaling the comeback of the K-dark hero, already setting off a dopamine rush. The released poster, featuring the return of the Rainbow Transport logo after two years with just the phrase “The third run begins,” delivers a strong impact and raises the adrenaline of viewers who have awaited the return of the K-dark hero. Alongside this, the silhouette of Do-gi’s upgraded car, “5283,” is shown, heightening expectations for the return of “Taxi Driver 3” with its overwhelming scale and intense narrative.
