[Sports Chosun Park Aram Reporter] Musical actor Park Hae-mi and her son Hwang Sung-jae confess that they have accumulated a debt of 1.5 billion won since ‘that incident.’
In the 3rd episode of MBC Every1 entertainment show ‘I’ve Grown Up But Won’t Leave’ airing on October 15, Park Hae-mi and Hwang Sung-jae remember the ‘incident’ that made their lives difficult.
At the end of the previous broadcast, Hwang Sung-jae opens a mysterious package under Park Hae-mi’s watchful eye, and it is revealed to be a cat tower. Despite Park Hae-mi’s discomfort due to cat fur, Hwang Sung-jae installs the cat tower in the living room, causing Hong Jin-kyung to show genuine irritation.
Park Hae-mi shoots a laser-like glare at Hwang Sung-jae’s actions, saying, “You’ve gone crazy, I might go crazy,” but Hwang Sung-jae uses his secret move to melt his mother’s heart, surprising everyone with Park Hae-mi’s visible softening in front of her son.
Especially on this day, Park Hae-mi reveals that she has a real estate debt of 1.5 billion won and is paying it off together with Hwang Sung-jae. Hwang Sung-jae recalls the difficult times when they accumulated the debt due to ‘that incident’ and expresses his respect for Park Hae-mi for overcoming adversity.
Meanwhile, Park Hae-mi’s ex-husband Hwang Min was involved in a drunk driving accident on August 27, 2018, where he crashed a Chrysler Dodge SRT Hellcat sports car into a 25-ton truck while intoxicated near the Gupyeong Roundabout on Gangbyeonbuk Road in Guri, Gyeonggi Province.
In this accident, passengers A (20) and B (33) died. Hwang Min’s blood alcohol level at the time of the accident was 0.104%, which was high enough to warrant license revocation.
Hwang Min was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for causing a fatal accident under the influence of alcohol. However, the appellate court overturned the initial sentence, reducing it to 3 years and 6 months.
Immediately after the accident, Park Hae-mi expressed her deep remorse through a media outlet, stating, “The two actors who left this world are my beloved students. I am sorry and my heart is torn. It’s hard to imagine how I can atone for it.” In response, the victims and their families released a statement accepting Park Hae-mi’s apology, stating that she was not the direct perpetrator of the incident.
