Kim Gura, a South Korean entertainer, has recently apologized for an incident that happened 12 years ago involving the destruction of K.Will’s figure. On September 24th, a video titled “The Ultimate Guest to Celebrate K.Will Channel’s 1st Anniversary: Kim Gura Appears” was uploaded on the YouTube channel “Hyung-soo-neun K.Will” (K.Will’s Sister-in-law).
During the meeting with K.Will, the incident from 2013 on MBC’s “Radio Star” was brought up, where Kim Gura accidentally broke K.Will’s cherished figure. This event caused a stir at the time, particularly since the “kidult” culture, or adult interest in toys, wasn’t widely accepted yet.
K.Will explained that there was a big reaction to the words exchanged after the figure was broken, as it was during a period when openly enjoying such hobbies was difficult. He shared that someone commented that starting a figure-related YouTube channel then could have been a hit.
Kim Gura acknowledged the continued discussions around the figure incident, even after over a decade, admitting he was wrong for dropping it back then. He asked if the figure broke, to which K.Will replied that it came apart like a Lego, as it was a detachable piece.
Kim Gura mentioned that at that time, dropping things was often used as a comedic element in variety shows. After the incident, K.Will appeared upset, leading to Kim Gura also getting upset. He noted that he didn’t realize the importance of such figures to collectors back then and had apologized at the time.
K.Will explained that while he had said it was fine, it was for the sake of the broadcast, and the real issue arose afterward. He had brought two figures, one mass-produced and one custom-made. The custom figure was irreplaceable, and the exchange about its price, especially Kim Gura’s comment, had aggravated the situation.
K.Will clarified that the day ended on a positive note, and he never anticipated it would become such a problem. He was not that upset. Kim Gura admitted to not even remembering the incident until K.Will brought it up, as it’s hard to recall everything with weekly broadcasts.
Kim Gura also mentioned how even his mother comments on the incident, to which he often responds by explaining the situation wasn’t intentional. Upon reflection, he acknowledged that his remark about the price was indeed inappropriate, reiterating his apology.
