[OSEN=Reporter Ha Soo-jung] “Viewers were shocked and the ratings soared!”
SBS weekend drama ‘Connection’ starring Jisung and Jeon Mi-do completed a shocking narrative from the start that caused a major disturbance, keeping viewers awake at night.
The 4th episode of SBS weekend drama ‘Connection’ (written by Lee Hyun, directed by Kim Moon-kyo, produced by Studio S, Pungnyeonjeonpa, Soul Pictures) aired on June 1st (Sat), setting a new record for its own highest viewership ratings with 8.2% in the Seoul metropolitan area, 7.9% nationwide, and a peak of 9.8%, solidly maintaining its throne as the top Saturday miniseries for two consecutive weeks. The 2049 ratings were 2.7%, achieving the feat of being the top in the same time slot for 4 consecutive weeks, as well as the top overall broadcast on Saturdays.
In the 4th episode of ‘Connection’, Jang Jaekyung (Jisung) collapsed after inhaling a Lemon Balm that he had ingested, and a new medical incident report involving Oh Yoon-jin (Jeon Mi-do) unfolded, creating an unpredictable development that shook the living rooms of viewers.
After Oh Yoon-jin (Jeon Mi-do) brought Jang Jaekyung to the police station, she received a text message on her phone saying ‘Death on September 11, 2023, related to Park Bok-rye’s fatal medical accident’ and the message mentioned an ‘audio file’ which raised suspicions. Then Jang Jaekyung, who fainted after reaching for the zipper bag containing the Lemon Balm, regained consciousness in the restroom and thought he had taken the pills, feeling frustrated. However, upon checking the office CCTV footage, he couldn’t find any evidence of himself glowing. Moreover, Jang Jaekyung became suspicious when he discovered that his junior, Kim Chang-soo (Jung Jae-gwang), was watching the CCTV footage of his emergency room commotion without any records. In particular, realizing that Kim Chang-soo was watching the CCTV footage of his turmoil in the emergency room sparked doubts.
Later, Oh Yoon-jin and Kim Chang-soo confronted Jang Jaekyung about the missing Lemon Balm, and Jang Jaekyung instructed to change the investigation records to completely erase the evidence. Furthermore, Jang Jaekyung revisited the chief at the construction site where Park Jun-seo (Yoon Namu) died, and the chief, driven by Jang Jaekyung’s persistence, revealed the existence of a hole made for the convenience of the laborers when going to eat. Jang Jaekyung then confirmed the presence of a CCTV near the blocked hole and requested access from the owner.
Through the barn CCTV, Jang Jaekyung saw a Hyundai taxi come in and stop for about 30 seconds, leading him to speculate that if Park Jun-seo had gotten off the taxi, he arrived at the scene 30 minutes to an hour earlier than the estimated time of death. Additionally, Jang Jaekyung became suspicious after witnessing a black mid-sized sedan entering abruptly at 11:21 and departing 5 seconds later. However, Jeong Yoon-ho (Lee Kang-wook) watching Jang Jaekyung and the barn owner’s conversation in the CCTV scene for a long time led to a sense of turmoil.
Meanwhile, determined to trace the medical incident that came to her, Oh Yoon-jin met with the family of the accident victim who refused to make a statement. She then went to Park Jun-seo’s house to meet Choi Ji-yeon (Jung Yoo-min), but witnessed Park Tae-jin (Kwon Yool) and Choi Ji-yeon entering a lodging facility, leaving her astonished.
At the same time, Jang Jaekyung found out from the barn owner that Park Jun-seo was the one who copied the CCTV he was looking for six months ago, and after copying the CCTV, he gave Park Jun-seo ‘Geumhyeong Pharmaceuticals’ vitamins as a gift. As Jang Jaekyung felt uneasy about the unknown relationship between Park Jun-seo and Geumhyeong Pharmaceuticals, Jeong Yoon-ho, who had been secretly investigating the two, recalled a suspicious early morning scene, showing a complex expression. When Jang Jaekyung momentarily left to retrieve the USB memory for copying the CCTV, Jeong Yoon-ho suddenly appeared in the barn with a big pair of scissors, attacked the barn owner, and vanished. Upon his return, Jang Jaekyung found the CCTV memory burned, and the barn owner bleeding and collapsed, leaving him in shock. The bewildered owner, wandering the scene, handed over a USB containing some of the CCTV to Jang Jaekyung and collapsed, while Jang Jaekyung embraced the blood-covered owner with a dismayed look. The ending of Jang Jaekyung obtaining the ‘bloodstained USB’ added a touch of mystery.
Meanwhile, Park Tae-jin expressed his anger towards Choi Ji-yeon for conducting an autopsy by grabbing her by the collar. Park Tae-jin threatened Choi Ji-yeon to hand over the password, and Choi Ji-yeon’s offer to reveal the password for 1 billion won gained attention. With the news of Im Myeong-guk’s (Oh Il-young) death being released, the tense appearance of Won Jong-soo (Kim Kyung-nam) and the sudden unpredictable actions of Jeong Yoon-ho, now turned into a villain, spiked curiosity.
Viewers poured out hot reactions such as “I couldn’t help but hold my sweat until the end!”, “Wow, truly unpredictable until the end!”, “Heart-pounding finale!”, “Wow, everyone acted so well! Truly certified as an acting hot spot!”, “Entangled, complicated, and even another incident? So curious!”, “Of course, Connection is a must-watch next week as well.”
Meanwhile, the 5th episode of SBS weekend drama ‘Connection’ will air on June 7th (Fri) at 10 p.m.
