[Sports Chosun Online Reporter Lee Woo-joo] Trot singer Jung Mi-ae has shared an update on her battle with tongue cancer.
On the 29th, Jung Mi-ae wrote, “I had a retest two months ago. My world was nothing but darkness during those two months..but today, with just the words ‘Everything is clear. No issues~’ from the professor, I saw the light again.” She added, “It’s been three years. Now, I only need to get checked every six months. It’s been tough, but let’s keep going! Yay!” sharing the happy news.
Jung Mi-ae was diagnosed with stage 3 tongue cancer in 2021 and underwent a lengthy battle with the disease. She revealed that an inflammation originating from tooth decay turned into cancer, saying, “I had an 8-hour surgery. They removed one-third of my tongue and extensively cut out the lymph nodes.”
Afterward, through tremendous effort, Jung Mi-ae worked on her pronunciation and practiced singing to regain her daily life. She was disheartened to receive a retest diagnosis during a routine checkup but, fortunately, was told there were no issues, reassuring her fans.
Meanwhile, Jung Mi-ae released her new song ‘Hoei’ last month.
