(Seoul = News1) Reporter Kim Song-yi = Yu Bibim, a participant who gained attention through the Netflix show ‘Black and White Chef’, has confessed to past illegal and expedient operations, causing controversy, and has pledged to resume activities.
On the 13th, a post titled ‘Yu Bibim’s Latest Update’ spread online. The previous day, Yu Bibim wrote a handwritten letter saying, “It is not a victory for the malicious commenters even if Yu Bibim is defeated.”
He continued, “It will take more than 100 years for the malicious commenters to regain the glory of the past because the terrifying philosophy of bibim, which is more frightening than guns, knives, and cannons, has been instilled.”
Furthermore, Yu Bibim added, “Malicious commenters will live their lives like slaves by sowing discord among themselves. Their nature was once kind and noble, but they became slaves due to education driven by money, fame, envy, and jealousy. I, Yu Bibim (Bibim King), will return and revive brilliantly with the value of Bibim text, Bibim philosophy, and Bibim story.”
Previously, Yu Bibim revealed in a handwritten letter posted on social media in November of last year that “since 2003, I operated a restaurant in an unauthorized place and was sentenced to probation.”
He confessed, “I deeply reflected and closed the restaurant, but due to financial difficulties, I registered a performance and Korean food experience business under my wife’s name and operated until recently using expedient means. I earnestly appealed to various public institutions and the Regulatory Reform Committee to relax the regulations so I could run a restaurant legitimately, but the barriers were too high, so I could not achieve my goal.”
He then pledged, “Now I will return to my original intentions and focus on researching the Bibim phenomenon and compiling an encyclopedia of Bibim text. In a repentant spirit, the old Bibim sound space I have dedicated myself to for 20 years will be opened to everyone as a free Bibim exhibition and performance venue. In the Bibim sound at the relocated Hanok Village, I will legally and sincerely repay with the best ingredients.”
Meanwhile, Yu Bibim is a chef who loves bibimbap so much that he even changed his name to Bibim, garnering attention with his appearance on ‘Black and White Chef’ last year.
