“If you want to film aespa, submit a pledge”… The Student Council at Chungnam National University requires a copy of an ID from applicants wishing to film at the Daedong Festival.

The student council of Chungnam National University is facing criticism from many K-pop fans after releasing a filming permission application form ahead of a festival.

On the 21st, the student council posted an announcement titled ‘2024 Chungnam National University Daedongje Filming Permission Application Form’ on their official website.

The announcement included files such as the filming permission application form, a pledge form, and a consent form for the collection and use of personal information.

The application form requires applicants to provide personal details such as name, address, date of birth, phone number, and email address.

Applicants also need to fill out details about their desired filming schedule, the name of the filming, affiliation, SNS channel address, purpose of filming, content, and equipment to be used. The number of people allowed to film is limited to one, and each can have only one filming device.

Additionally, applicants must submit a copy of their ID, a stage safety compliance pledge, and personal verification documents, which will be internally reviewed by the student council.

The pledge includes content such as actively cooperating with the instructions from the student council and festival personnel, leaving the venue after the performance ends on the chosen filming date, and filming only within designated areas specified by the student council.

Furthermore, it states that any videos taken must focus on an overall introduction of the Chungnam National University Baekma Daedongje festival and the university’s promotion. If the student council requests footage for promotional purposes, the original videos must be provided.

This announcement prompted reactions such as “It’s too much, even for safety reasons,” “Why go to such lengths?” and “Why do fans have to submit pledge forms?” from many commenters.

On the other hand, some responded with “Just don’t film,” “Seems like they’re intentionally trying to reduce the number of fans,” and “It’s a festival for the students, so it makes sense.”

The festival, starting on the 28th, will feature performances from QWER, singers Kwon Jin-ah, Jo Yu-ri, Ash Island, and aespa.
