‘Made in Korea’ is set in the 1970s, a time of chaos and development in South Korea, and tells the story of ‘Baek Ki-tae’ (Hyun Bin), a man aiming for the pinnacle of wealth and power by using the country as a profit model, and ‘Jang Geon-young’ (Jung Woo-sung), a prosecutor who relentlessly pursues him with fierce determination, facing grand events that transcend the era.

A highlight was the ending of episode 6. Regarding this, Hyun Bin shared, “On the morning of the shooting day, we set up, and when I was at the base camp, the director suggested an idea for that scene. I wanted to express it in a way unique to Baek Ki-tae, so we spontaneously decided to shoot it,” he revealed.

When asked about taking on his first villain role as Baek Ki-tae, Hyun Bin questioned, “Is Ki-tae a villain?” He continued, “The director seems to aim to bring out new aspects of me, like with ‘Harbin’ and ‘Made in Korea.’ I appreciate that as an actor. Personally, I don’t think of Baek Ki-tae as a villain. I think he’s a character with charm, even if he’s doing wrong things. There are understandable and relatable parts about him, though he remains a disconcerting character.”

Many acquaintances also ask about season 2. To this, Hyun Bin clearly replied, “My answer is ‘no comment.’ I hope people look forward to season 2 while holding onto the lingering impact of episode 6 from season 1.”

Though my wife (Son Ye-jin) was also busy filming and couldn’t watch it together, I heard she found it very entertaining and appreciated seeing a side of me she couldn’t before,” he concluded.
