[Sports Chosun Online, Reporter Lee Woo-joo] A victim of a fraudulent marriage appeared on the show ‘Ask Anything’.
On the broadcast of KBS Joy’s entertainment program ‘Ask Anything’ on the 4th, a client who claimed to have been a victim of a fraudulent marriage shared her concerns.
The client, who claimed to have been tricked into a fraudulent marriage, said, “During the ongoing lawsuit against a third party, my husband filed for divorce, so we are currently in a divorce lawsuit. He has money but is deliberately dragging out the divorce lawsuit. The lease of the house we are living in ends by December. I’m living with my 7-year-old daughter, and we have nowhere to go. It’s daunting,” she shared.
The client, who met her husband for the first time in 2017, said, “He seemed kind and innocent. When we got married, his previous business had failed, and he was in bad credit. However, I felt a deep affection for him and saw him trying hard, so I decided to marry him.” In response, Seo Jang-hoon expressed regret, saying, “That’s where it went wrong. The moment the bad credit story came up, it should have ended there.”
The client discovered some suspicious emails when looking at her husband’s phone. “An email with a strange woman’s name came. When I clicked on it, it was a previous girlfriend threatening to expose an affair to my family because of a promise of marriage not fulfilled. He had secretly been giving her tens of millions of won,” she explained. She found out more lies about her husband’s past, including a false marriage registration with another woman at the age of 20 and deceit about his education and his father’s profession as an accountant.
Furthermore, the client revealed, “He had contact details for 100 employees from certain businesses, managed by region and name, and indicated his favorites. There was also a woman he sponsored separately in Qingdao, China. It turned out he was addicted to sex work. It was only a month after I had given birth, and I couldn’t believe the person I knew had such a side.”
She forgave him after he apologized, but then more incidents occurred. She recounted, “He said he was going to the sauna but went to a completely different neighborhood, to the house of a mistress. When I confronted him, he suddenly changed and started hurling the same insults he used on that girlfriend at me. Last April, he even strangled me in front of our child, and the police had to come and separate us.”
Having listened to everything, Seo Jang-hoon advised, “Since you’ve hired a lawyer, ensure you receive all you’re entitled to and focus on building a better life for yourself. Regarding having no place to stay with your daughter, rely on your parents temporarily.”
