Gaunt Kwon Yuri: There Was a Reason… Even Lost Weight for a Special Appearance

Actress Kwon Yuri delivered a short but special performance in the drama “The Art of Negotiation.”

In the JTBC weekend drama “The Art of Negotiation” (written by Lee Seung-young, directed by Ahn Pan-seok), which depicts the remarkable achievements of a conglomerate M&A expert known as a legendary negotiator, Kwon Yuri enhanced the interest of the drama by taking on the role of Song Ji-oh, daughter of Chairman Song Jae-sik (played by Sung Dong-il) and the actual owner of Dado Resort.

In the recent broadcast, Kwon Yuri’s character Song Ji-oh created tension by firmly rejecting the proposal of Yoon Joo-no (Lee Je-hoon), who came to Jeju Island intending to sell Dado Resort to defend Sanin’s stock price. The revelation of her battle with cancer and her intention to spend the rest of her life at the resort evoked sympathy from viewers.

However, after meeting Gwak Min-jung (Ahn Hyun-ho), who treats her sincerely, Song Ji-oh gradually starts to open up. Ultimately, she agrees to a condition offering permanent rent-free use of room 123 and announces her intention to sell the resort and undergo another surgery to her father, Chairman Song Jae-sik.

During this process, Kwon Yuri portrayed a character who appears bright and strong outwardly but harbors unspeakable loneliness and concerns beneath the surface, living at life’s edge. Her dedication to acting was particularly evident as she even underwent weight loss to authentically portray a character battling cancer.

Moreover, Kwon Yuri recently showcased a successful transformation into a rough and dark character in the movie “Trespass,” released on the 12th, delivering a fresh shock to audiences. Following this, her entirely different performance in “The Art of Negotiation” drew attention, showing her broad spectrum by traversing both film and drama. There is much anticipation for what new roles Kwon Yuri will take on in the future.
