According to TV Chosun on the 5th, a passerby, a woman identified as Ms. A, was injured with a four-week recovery period when she was crushed by a large glass pane that suddenly fell from the restaurant. This well-known chef, whose restaurant’s glass wasn’t properly secured, has faced police investigations and is accused of negligence causing bodily harm. The incident was captured on a CCTV camera, showing Ms. A being hit directly by the glass while walking with an umbrella, leading a nearby man to rush to her aid and escort her to an ambulance.
The restaurant is located in an area frequented by many pedestrians during the daytime, due to nearby walking paths and crosswalks. The accident occurred because the glass pane was not properly secured. The chef has been investigated twice by the police under charges of negligent injury but has not reached a settlement with the victim regarding medical expenses. The chef’s lawyer stated that they asked for a minimum justification for the compensation amount requested by the victim’s side. Meanwhile, the victim’s lawyer indicated that it felt like asking for someone’s approval as if submitting to a boss at work. The settlement amount demanded by the victim was 3.8 million won.
