[Exclusive] BJ Hicong Found Guilty of Defamation, Insults, and Stalking in Case Involving Pregnant and Abortion Claims Against BJ Namsun [World &]
[Herald Economy – Reporter Ahn Se-yeon] BJ Hicong (real name Kim Hee-won), who claimed to have been pregnant with the child of popular BJ Namsun (Park Hyun-woo), who has 800,000 YouTube subscribers, and had an abortion, has been fined 3 million KRW. Although the revelation itself was not false, the accusations of insults, defamation by specifying facts, and stalking were acknowledged.
According to the legal community on the 24th, Judge Kim Kwang-seob of the Jeju District Court sentenced Hicong on charges including defamation by specifying facts under the Information and Communication Network Act, insults, and violation of the Stalking Punishment Act.
The timeline goes back to July 2023, when Hicong revealed in her Instagram story that she had met BJ Namsun in a romantic relationship, became pregnant with his child, and underwent an abortion. She also claimed, “After the surgery, Namsun never visited the hospital and pretended not to know about the surgery.”
During this process, Hicong also disclosed captured images of conversations with BJ Namsun. Hicong asked Namsun to send 1.3 million KRW for surgical expenses, but Namsun requested bankbook copies and identification card copies, saying he needs proof of expenditures.
Hicong also released messages she sent to Namsun, including, “Everyone around you says they slept with you,” and “Don’t let me feel ashamed for meeting you.” She also called Namsun derogatory names and sent messages like “Why did you make me have an abortion?”, “Why did you ignore all my contacts?”, and “Why did you abandon me?” Additionally, she protested by making around 80 calls and sending texts.
As the controversy grew, Hicong stated, “I’m not looking for money,” emphasizing her sole desire was an apology. She added, “While I was being verbally attacked by Namsun’s fans, Namsun kept ignoring me,” and expressed that her depression worsened to the point of hospitalization, leading to her decision to disclose the matter.
At the time, BJ Namsun announced that he was taking legal action.
He said, “Currently, I am proceeding with a lawsuit against Hicong,” and added that he had appointed a lawyer. He further warned, “If anything revealed in court turns out to be true, I will make it public on my broadcast,” and emphasized that there would be no leniency toward malicious comments and false statements, stating that all involved would be punished.
The case eventually turned into a messy fight, with allegations swirling over whether Hicong genuinely dated Namsun and whether the abortion claim was false.
According to the Herald Economy’s investigation, a court ruling on Hicong was recently delivered. The judgment stated that most of Hicong’s revelations were true. It recognized that Hicong had dated Namsun and underwent an abortion.
The court noted, “The defendant (Hicong) had undergone an abortion around December 28, 2022,” and confirmed that “there was a sexual relationship with the victim (Namsun) around November 2022.”
However, charges of insults, defamation, and stalking against Hicong were all found to be guilty.
Regarding the insult charge, the court stated, “During the disclosure process, the defendant used derogatory terms like ‘crazy X’ and ‘X doesn’t know anything,’ etc., thus finding the charge guilty.”
For defamation, defamation by specifying facts, rather than false information, was acknowledged. The court pointed out, “The defendant (Hicong) publicly revealed text messages implying that the victim (Namsun) ignored knowing about the defendant’s abortion due to their sexual relationship.” It further added that “the defendant intended to defame the victim by publicly revealing facts to slander the victim.”
The stalking charge was also guilty. The court noted, “The defendant repeatedly sent messages and made calls about 80 times around June 2023, despite the victim’s explicit refusal.”
